Welcome to Katrina's Happy Dogs. My world of passion, purpose and paws. My heart is dedicated to the well-being of your furry friends. For several years, I have chosen to dedicate myself to a career in the animal welfare, and dog training industry around the world.

My adventure began in 2016 when I had the privilege of working with a charitable organisation in Cyprus called BARC. We focussed on rehoming animals to loving families within the military community.

Working here really ignited my passion to want to continue working with animals.

 

My personal adventure began in 2016, when I had the privilege of working within the charitable organisation BARC – British (Forces) Animal Rehoming Centre in Cyprus. Here we focussed on rehoming animals and supporting pet loving families, primarily within the military community in the Sovereign Base areas of Cyprus. Working here really ignited my passion and a commitment to work with animals full time.

 When I moved to the US, I broadened my experience, working at a non-profit humane animal shelter on the central coast of California. Here, alongside a team of dedicated dog trainers and other animal professionals I saw the remarkable impact of science-backed positive reinforcement training and care. It was here that I witnessed dogs, who some might have written off as “untrainable”, be brought out of their shells, learn to trust humans and find loving forever homes with our help.

In 2019 I became an approved instructor with the Academy of Dog Training and Behaviour. Since then I have worked closely with owners and their canine companions in group class settings, as well as offering bespoke one-on-one sessions

​

  I am a proud member of the National Institute of Canine Ethics. As such, I am dedicated to continuous learning and professional development. I achieve this through professional seminars, accredited training and staying abreast of industry literature. This way I ensure that I offer clients the most effective, positive and up-to-date techniques.

 

I am thrilled to have been recognised by the Animal Star Awards in 2024 and granted a “Highly Commended” award as one of the top three Dog trainers in the North!

I am fully insured with Petplan Sanctuary. Your peace of mind is important to me, and this coverage ensures a safe and professional experience. Additionally, it enables me to work with  students from Moulton College, as I believe in the importance of educating the younger generation about positive reinforcement training.

I firmly believe that a building a stronger positive bond between owner and dog is key to a happy healthy relationship. I offer training that takes you and your dog on an adventure; both learning together in a fun, positive and enjoyable way. I am proud to  partner with Tug-e-nuff toy company who provide  toys that  help to improve bond between owner and dog in a fun and enjoyable way.
